"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

In case you can’t tell, I’m a Carparazzi of sorts. Provided I’m not in a hurry, I stop to take pictures of cool or unusual cars whenever I can. In the recent past, that has included the Shelby GT350, both in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! form. So today, when I saw my first new Shelby GT350 near my house, I figured I had to see if it was going to stop soon so I could take some pictures. Sure enough, it turned into an office complex, and I drove past before making a u-turn and pulling back in. I got out of my car and took the picture you see above of this gorgeous gunmetal gray machine, but before I could walk around and get a picture from the rear of the car, a gentleman popped out of the office building and asked if I was a Mustang fan. He turned out to be the owner of the car, and was flattered that I had followed him to get a picture of the car. We talked about it a bit. The lovely grey paint job, without any stripes or decals, was because, to roughly quote him, “Ford did such a great job with this car. It’s so beautiful on its own, it doesn’t need all that stuff.” I wholeheartedly agree. He also told me to stick around for a second to hear the car start up. That was an offer I couldn’t refuse. He fired it up in normal mode, which sounded like most good V8s. He then switched to track mode, and the beast was unleashed. Forget the Corvette Z06. Forget the V8 Vantage. Forget everything else. The sound that Shelby made was a raw, visceral snarl straight out of the 1960s. It is quite possibly the best sounding V8 I have ever heard. Here’s a video of one if you don’t believe me, or for pure enjoyment if you do:
It’s always great to see nice cars wind up in the hands of nice people who appreciate them and want to share them with others. Also, I followed a random stranger and somehow didn’t weird him out.

Famous fish are still fish. They have lives too.

Two dudes in a rental-looking red Mustang convertible followed me into a private condominium clubhouse parking lot, a place where nobody just goes in and leaves without having business there. They didn’t say anything and left promptly. Was kind of weirded out.

I cannot applaud his color choice more highly. I love it. And I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a new car in my life as much as the new Mustang, and now especially the 350. It sounds like Bullitt .

Much respect to him for leaving off the damn stripes!
If they come from the factory, are they under or over the clearcoat? Because I might need to own one of these some day...
